Wooden pallets have long been a practical and easy way to move large amounts of stock from place to place, however some pallets are much better than others. Why? Why Shouldn’t I Just Use The Cheap Pallets?

Using cheap pallets is tempting, especially if you’re only interested in the initial cost. If you play your cards right, you could be looking at a huge cost savings. Unfortunately, it’s simply not that easy. Pallets NEED to be durable, they take a huge amount of wear and tear on a daily basis and they need to be built in way that can handle this.

Lets presume you’re shipping a consignment of alarm clocks across country and when they get picked up at the other end two of the slabs collapse and the alarms clocks crash to the floor. Not only do you have to foot the bill for the pallet (which isn’t much in itself, but if this happens regularly it can become problematic) you are left assessing the damage to all the clocks. You are also left wondering whether or not all the other pallets are safe enough to be used.

The other thing to bear in mind if you’re considering buying substandard pallets is the possibility that if they did collapse as in the example above, they might seriously injure someone, leaving you culpable.

If we haven’t managed to convince you to choose quality over price, at least take a look at your business and the products you ship and ask yourself if there is a risk in what you’re doing.
